Description
Many poor children wear dirty clothes. What is often not considered is that washing clothes is extremely difficult when parents do not own a washing machine, cannot afford laundry detergent, do not have any left-over change for the machines at the Laundromat, or have no means to lug dirty laundry to a place to wash the clothes. For low-income families, just getting the laundry done, a ritual in all families, can be such an insurmountable task that it is often cheaper to throw away the dirty clothes and pick-up “new” clothes for cheap or free at a thrift store or yard sale.
